Are you using a proxy server? Without Skype for Business Server 2015 CU4 (build 9319.272 or later) or Lync Server 2013 CU8 HF1 (build 8309.973 or later), Skype for Business on Mac requires Mobility enablement on the server side. Are you using a VPN? If you are connected to a VPN and the call is unable to connect, then disconnect from the VPN and try the call again.

Check your security software or Firewall settings to make sure they aren't blocking Skype. Verify you have the latest version of Skype.
